SunMed is a company based in Florida that sells various medical products and devices to customers all over the world. I was approached by them to create a new logo. The logo needed to work across a variety of media such as catalogues, brochures, web, one color print on product tubing, clothing, etc.
SunMed’s previous logo:

SunMed wanted a logo that represented the company as a professional, respected, and fresh. They also leaned towards a simple concept and representation of the company. Below are some of the ideas that were presented to them.

In the group above, the team at SunMed decided they liked the last concept the best. Some modifications were requested including color tweaks (we must’ve looked at 50 different colors between orange and red!), and some weight increasing to the text. Below is the final logo.

I am also designing SunMed’s stationary and business cards. The people at SunMed were great to work with and I may be doing more work for them in the future.
Feedback… Do you like the concept they chose? If not, which concept do you like best?

Jeremy Kress added these words on Mar 20 09 at 4:06 pmI would have went with number 2 with a slight modification to move the rays off of the S more…but I still like what you ended up with.

Kristen added these words on Mar 22 09 at 9:18 pmVery nice, much better than what they had! Definitely more professional, respected and fresh. My eye went directly to your first design with the dot pattern, but I can see why they chose the one they did. Very clean & professional!

All is well, just busy busy! I know what you mean about moving the rays away. the implied half circle would overlap the “S”. I was going to adjust this if they decided to move forward with that concept. I liked that one also!
Kristen,Thanks for the comment. I have to admit that I am also partial to the first design shown here. I still like the final logo, but I think the first shows both “Sun” and “Med” the best (see the subtle medical cross in the middle!?).
